Q: What is a good pre-owned used car to buy?
I was thinking of an Audi, Honda Accord, Volkswagen Passat..I want something that is not so expensive to fix and that I can get four years out of. I want to spend only $11,000 and the car can't be too old. Any suggestions?

A: Lisa B, I bought a used Passat in New York last month and saved a lot. I haven't had any problems yet. I only buy used cars. http://www.findusedcardealer.com

Q: ****I just bought an 2003 Audi a4 1.8 turbo....original sticker says it's 4 cyl?
actually ..since i purchased it pre-owned from audi, i was wondering why the engine would have been modified to a 6 cyl. it seemed kinda of strange to me that it had been converted....but i drove it and had to have it!...is the conversion something that audi recomended? or the previous owner wanted done ?...and yes i'm new to audi's and i'm learning about this awesome machine..so don't leave sarcastic answers.Just looking for advice and my new fellow audi lovers. thank for your help.

A: ok .. the only conversions from an A4 was to s4 trim - the biturbo engine capable of 500hp with some "basic" bolt-ons. what you have is the a4 with the V6 in it one of the 2 options 3.0 v6 naturally aspirated or the 1.8T turbo 4cyl (forced inducted) . Most likely they gave you the "wrong sticker" .. but do me a favor open the hood and see what the engine looks like, then read what it said on the B pillar (bottom of the door jam -driver side - a bunch of data ) .. then you'll know what the car went through.. if it's a preowned then it "SHOULD BE LEGIT" but you never know with these "stealerships" (dealers) anymore. and what do you badges say (are they all off the car now) ? ok pic time now : - this is what a v6 looks like : http://www.carnuttv.com/images/roadtest_images/2003_audi_A4_engine.JPG this is what the 4 cyl 1.8T turbo looks like (see turbo on the pass side of the motor tucked in there down ) http://us1.webpublications.com.au/static/images/articles/i20/2077_3mg.jpg

Q: Is it possible to lease a pre-owned vehicle?
Audi is what I have in mind...or BMW...

A: Yes - you can often lease a pre-owned vehicle, as long as it is not very old (say over 8-10 years) Many dealers will allow you to lease a used car on their lot, especially if it is a certified pre-owned vehicle. Also you could check some sites that list people who want to get out of their lease such as www.swapalease.com. I have never used them personally, but have read about them in USA Today. There are many other lease swap sites like them. Keep in mind that you will want to make sure you have your insurance policy set up properly to cover you if something happens to the vehicle early in the lease term. This is sometimes known as "Gap" insurance. Some dealers/manufacturers cover the GAP insurance costs if you lease through them, but I doubt they would on a used car. Audi's and BMW's are really great cars (I've owned Both). Depending on the mileage, it might be worth getting an extended warranty. Good Luck.

Q: How much do you need to make annually to be able to afford a $35,000 car?
I either want to get a decently priced new car (which would probably be a Honda or a Toyota)...or a decently priced pre-owned BMW or Audi. I just want to make sure I can afford it with my annual salary which is $30,000...I just started working fulltime.

A: More than $30k, I'm afraid. Get a classic instead, for street-cool. Look for a used non-turbo Supra or Celica, or a low-mileage 3-series BMW, around 1998. A $35k car will cost you around $220-250 per week in payments. Try to spend $10k, you will enjoy owning it much more. Remember, a $35k car is going to be worth half that once paid for. Best wishes

Q: Audi owners over here question about maitenance?
Hi I'm about to buy a pre owned audii from a private dealer and was wondering how much would maitance usually run is audi maitenance more towards the expensive side or more toward the cheaper side?

A: Maintenance on an Audi is not cheap, however it is not extremely expensive...if you keep up with the Audi scheduled maintenance (which will be given to you upon your purchase), it will be fairly priced... If you tend to have your basic maintenance done at the dealership as opposed to a certified Audi mechanic, the prices will be fairly expensive (as all dealerships tend to be), but nothing ridiculous I have had my S4 for 5 years now (and I have also worked at an Audi dealership for a while) and have faced no major costs with basic maintenance (ie., oil changes, belt replacements, etc.) I will say that Audi parts in general are definitely NOT cheap, but if you keep up with the maintenance, you will be more likely to avoid those parts...Honestly, I will never own another make of car other than an Audi...Audi owners (as well as VW owners) tend to have a passion for their cars, and if you decide to buy an Audi, you will LOVE it also, Audi is one of the most reliable cars that you can buy...some people have little frame of reference

Q: 2004 Audi A4 Quattro...?
Anyone own this car? If so, what is your opinion of it? Thinking of getting a certified pre-owned one...

A: Audis are good cars....to some extent. Usually Audis have been known in recent years to be plauged with electrical issues, which can be expensive when the car is ou of warranty. My advice is do your research online about that car. German cars in general can be very expensive to fix when they go out of warranty for any issue...not sure how ling you plan on keeping the car. try usuing a search engine or check out audiworld.com. many sites like autotrader, edmunds.com cars.com hav info about specific models.

Q: Is used Mercedes CLK any good?
Dear CLK owners~~~ I am thinking about getting used CLK 2001 or 2002. The budget is around $18,000 - $20,000. I never got used car before so I am little cautious about it, I mean who wouldn't, right? ^^ Currently, I own Audi A4, and I never owned Mercedes before. Is it good idea to get used CLK? Also is it better to get it from the actual Mercede's dealer? They called it pre-certified. Give me some tips CLK owner !! Thanks!!! PS. What is MPG for 320, 430 and CLK 55?

A: Mercedes in general have among the WORST reliablity ratings of any car out there. They also have among the highest repair costs. As I own 3 Audis, I'd stick with what you've got. One of them has 270k on the clock, and neither the engine nor tranny have ever been opened.

Q: Im 16 just started driving a few months ago and i am looking for a car.?
I've been driving my brothers Mazda3 but he is coming back from college and he's going to need his car back for this summer as well as college next year. My price range is around 20k but I don't know whether to buy a new or used car. I first started looking at new cars and narrowed my choices down to the Mitsubishi Lancer, Mazda3, and the Honda Civic. Then I started to look at used cars and I found much nicer pre-owned cars for the same price as the new cars. Of course with a used car you don't what your buying (as far as what kind of driver owned it before you). I really liked the infiniti G35, Audi A4 but still I'm unsure if a used car is the best way to go. Btw is it better to get a stick shift or an automatic. My brothers car is a stick and I have gotten the hang of it, but automatics are just easier.

A: get a mustang v6 they dong cost over 23k and they are really fun to ride in.....they are REALLY safe.....i got into a crash in one...3 flips....and we were totaly fine we had some bumps and bruises but nothing more.....great car

Q: Why Did Volkswagen Discontinue the Phaeton?
I was looking around at couple of cars (on a sunday)at a dealership in the pre-owned section . i saw a car across the lot, that i thought was a Audi, but to my surprise it was a Volkswagen! so i checked it out. at first i knew it was`nt a Jetta, because it was larger, so i thought it was Passat. but as i kept looking at the car i said to myself that this is a mighty fancy model for a Volkswagen. then i looked at the sticker price and it was $54,000 so i checked the symbol of the car again to see if this was really a Volkswagen. and then i saw the name of the car and it was called the" Phaeton".which i had never heard of, or i have heard of it, and never payed it any attention because i am not a fan of Volkswagen`s but i like Audi`s(i know it`s strange because Volkswagens makes Audi) but when i got home i told my brother about it. so i pulled up Volkswagen`s web page and could not find the Phateon. and when i went on to the use car page all i found was 2006 and older.

A: That's one of the reasons why Volkswagen owns Audi, Toyota owns Lexus, and most major automakers own "prestige" marques that they keep totally separate from their regular brands. Like you said, you see a nice, expensive car, then you see it has a Volkswagen badge, then... does not compute!! Volkswagen = the people's car! The Beetle! The cheap little thing that runs well and efficiently but is in no way luxurious at all! When you're talking about a $54,000 sale, that kind of brand image is a huge negative, and most likely that's what caused the Phaeton to fail. Especially when one of the main reasons to buy an expensive car is the prestige, to show off - and the VW badge just doesn't do that for you, compared to something like a BMW, Benz or Jaguar. It may be just as good a car, but it doesn't mesh with the brand image at all, and that's crucial for luxury goods.
