A: I talked to a shipper/converter to get my A4 TDi S-Line imported to the states if I were to get relocated. The cost would be between $14,000 - $18,000 USD. Not only do you have to pay shipping, you have to pay customs fees, taxes (import, titles, tags, etc), conversion from Euro to US standard (lights, window glass, dash, emissions, etc), and fees to the importer UP FRONT for importing, ordering parts, labor, etc.
Because the car you're talking about hasn't been imported often enough (to have a set standard price), you will have to pay custom fees. Plus, all parts would have to be ordered direct from Audi Germany because the parts aren't available from Audi USA.
The RS4 that you saw in DC probably belonged to a diplomat that can bring these vehicles into the US without paying all that crap.
In my opinion, it's just not worth it to spend an extra half of the car's value to import it to the US.

I bought a set of Audi RS6 Alloys privately last week and my garage just called to say that they don't fit. Anyone know why? I was told they would. They don't line up properly apparently. I have a MK4 Golf 2002.

A: well the RS6 and the RS4 are extremely rare cars...
Dealerships DO sell RS6 models, however only a select few do...you really just need to contact different Audi dealerships
Also, exotic car dealers sometimes have RS6 models, but again, youll need to track them down

A: If your warranty is expired, you have two choices.
1.) Go with no coverage
2.) Buy an extended warranty. If the factory warranty is expired, then you can not qualify as a "certified pre-owned". Your only choice is to call your Audi dealer and see who they recommend for warranties. I would recommend genuinewarranty.com as they specialise in the luxury preowned.

A: How many miles, and how many owners, and is there any documentation on services, repairs, etc? Audis aren't horribly unreliable, but if you get a car where someone let the work pile up, it can seem really horribly expensive.
If you're serious about buying an Audi, go buy a VAGCOM from http://www.ross-tech.com, hook it to your computer, and do a complete scan of any car you're thinking about buying. The car knows EVERYTHING, whether the doors are unlocking or not, if the power window doesn't work, if there's an electrical module that's nonfunctional, if the motor is missing or having some other issue, etc.
Q: Are Audi RS6 cars a good second hand buy?
A: So long as they've been well looked after, and I mean PROPERLY serviced by an Audi dealer, and you can afford to continue the correct maintainance, then yes.
With a car like that it's vital that it's service history is cloth-of-gold stuff, and not "Bodger Motors", as neglect will easily rack up one £1,000+ bill after another. Check for accident damage too. Just because someone can afford a car like an RS6 doesn't necessarily mean they've got the skill to drive it properly!

OMG WARRANTY dude where do you come up with all this (no offense) ?!?1---- RS6 turbos ARE NOT the same as KO4-s for the rs4 !!!!! not even close !!! they don't even bolt up to stock location .. custom exhaust manis are needed to do that ....... most guys get the ko4-s machined to fit rs6 compressor wheels in there to make more power .. 450 WHEEL hp is easily attained !!!!!!!!!!
