Q: !991 Audi V8 Quattro Front End Vibration while under power?
Folks, I have a 1991 V8Q with 205K on the car, and less that 50K on the engine and transmission. Starting at 65Mph to up to about 80 Mph the car has developed a nasty vibration while under power and the wheels are held straight, the vibration stops when I turn even slightly to the right or left, and resumes when the wheels run straight. Lessens dramatically when I let up off the gas, even tho speed is constant. Any ideas ?
A: POSSIBLE INNER C.V JOINT , IF IT ONLY DOES IT UNDER ACCELLERATION . CHECK PLAY FROM AXLE SHAFT TO JOINT AT INNER JOINT .
Q: i got a transmission kit for my audi v8 1990 that is supossidly gunna unclod it can someone give me sum advice?
plz give advise for it i am using that for my senior project and i need some help i do not have a whole lot of money to spend so this kit better work so is there anything else that i should try for it?
A: My advice to you - pay more attention in your composition class.
It is really hard to answer a question when you write down gibberish.
Q: why does my 1990 audi v8 quattro make a clicking noise when i rev the engine in park and in drive?
it makes a clicking sound when i lightly press on gas and starts to go away when i press harder on gas unless im going from a stop. but it wont stop going away unless i step on the gas but when i press normal it makes the noise too
it sounds like its underneath my car or maybe the cylinders
A: Sounds as if your hydraulic tappets are the problem what type of oil do you use it should be FULLY synthetic 5/w/30. Try changing your oil this sometimes does the trick.Chuck is incorrect you cannot adjust valves this is done automatically by your hydraulic tappets.Regards mick UK own and work on Audi's
Q: 1991 Audi V8 Quattro Audio System?
I have a 1991 Audi V8 Quattro - great car with an overly complicated Bose audio system, the one with the amplified speakers that always squeal. Does anyone know what the major components are and where they're located, beyond the obvious ?? Specifically, I know there's an antenna amplifier located somewhere, it recently stopped picking up FM radio stations unless you're sitting in the parking lot of the station but I have no idea where the antenna amplifier is located or what it looks like, any help would be appreciated.
A: Check out these sites cause you could get an instant answer..
its worth registering for it. Then you can choose to never come back to these sites. Im a member there and its worth it. But the second link really answers them cause its worth it.
Q: does anybody know where to get a 1990 audi quattro V8 repair manual.?
i have been trting to find a repair manual for a car i just bought and have been unsucceful. if anybody has one to sell or knows where to get one let me know.
A: Try Haynes or Chilton. Also Bentley Publishers. I bought an owners' manual from Bentley.
Q: 1990 Audi V8 Quattro Gas Mileage?
I have a 1990 Audi V8 Quattro with around 100K miles on it (I know, I know, you can keep the jokes to yourselves). For a big V8 with all wheel drive it's always been pretty good on gas, around 19 - 21 mpg on the highway. Lately however, it has decided to not be so good on gas, and I'm lucky to get 13 or 14 mpg on the same commute, same driving conditions, same (or even more conservative now) speeds. I think this sucks, because gas ain't gettin any cheaper. The weird thing is that the car runs perfectly - smooth as silk, tons of power, no smoke or smells. I would think it would run like crap and smell funny if it had sensor issues and was running rich. Anyone have any ideas ?
Tires are new and all are set at proper pressure
A: When was the last time you checked the tire pressure? If they are low by even 3 or 4 pounds, it can account for lower mileage...also, how is the tread? Getting worn a bit?
Alignment been checked?
Q: Audi V8 AWD, tough question?
I am wondering if you could take an Audi V8 AWD engine from a front engine audi (like an RS4), and place it in the back, like an R8? I was looking at some Lambo Kit cars, and they are only made with RWD. So, could you take that Audi engine, put it on a tube frame, and place it in the middle, while still powering all 4 wheels?
I don't know much about Audi's, or AWD setups...
Any help would be appreciated!
I meant putting the engine on a tube frame, like a kit car. I wanted to know if the engine would fit/operate correctly being in a mid engine setup...
A: No, you cannot. You have to have major fabrication of the frame and body for starters. Also, a totally different driveshaft and transmission would have to be created.
Q: Custom Car- Audi V8, hard question!!!?
I am wondering if you could take an Audi V8 AWD engine from a front engine audi (like an RS4), and place it in the back, like a Lamborghini? I was looking at some Lambo Kit cars, and they are only made with RWD. So, could you take that Audi engine, put it on a tube frame, and place it in the middle, while still have it powering all 4 wheels?
I don't know much about Audi's, or AWD setups...
Any help would be appreciated!
I'm just wondering if it can be done, without modifying the engine
I'm not looking to buy a new car, I was thinking about building a custom car with my uncles, and the idea of a mid engine, AWD kit car came to mind. An old porsche 911 would be cool, but not at all what I'm looking for...
A: Yes, you can, but it will cost lots of money.
The Audi RS4/Audi R8 engine costs more than $20,000.
Q: so which is better 2008 aston martin vantage v8 or 2008 audi r8?
they both cost around the same. which would you choose?
A: Audi
Q: 1990 audi v8 speed sensor location on bellhousing?
anyone know where this is i looked and can not find it book has left side of bell housing but i think they are on drugs
A: Yes they are on drugs... There are two sensors next to each other. Located on the driver side of the bellhousing where it connects to the motor. You will see a black and a gray connector. If I remember the Gray one is the one you want to replace. The sensor can be found really cheap at http://www.highspeedautoparts.com Good luck.
Q: Spotted parked yesterday an SS Audi V8...Do they have that awesome v8 burble sound a U.S. Muscle car ?
would have???
A: No, a stock Audi V8 is almost inaudible when its running. You might hear a muffled growl when you floor it, but it'll never sound like a big Yank V8.
Q: The new Audi q7 v8 has 12.5:1 compression ratio. Is it possible to run that high of compression on 91 octane?
A: That is interesting... That high of compression requires a higher Octane Rating. The computer can compensate for the pinging and the knocking but on those high numbers... is pretty steep. I will love to see that working, or lets say take it for a test drive. If works with regular pumped gas, I am impressed !
All Gasolines has the same amount of BTUs on them, or thermal energy, the Octane rating is how tolerant to ignition under pressure. Therefore, higher Octane number, less prone to knock and pinging.
Q: 1990 Audi quattro V8,loud clanging from front of Eng.it's not power steering pump or water pump any sug.pleas

Q: Bentley Continental GT (Used) or V8 Audi R8?
Found examples at about £70000 each. Which is best.
Can I just say that this is a real life situation. I will not spend hours test-driving if you can tell me which is best first.
Also, I do plan on using this everyday.
A: Audi R8
Q: New E92 BMW M3 V8 or New Audi RS4?
Yes, the debate goes on. Which car would you rather have? Ultimately the Audi is an easier car to live with, but there's something mysterious about the M3 isn't there?
I'll take the M3 thank you...and in Laguna Seca Blue thank you
A: This question may actually be easier than one thinks. Obviously, one would choose the RS4 for practicality at first glance. This may not actually be the case. The boot of the M3 is actually too close to the RS4 to make any significant difference. Therefore, technically the ability for the cars to transport goods is essentially the same. The RS4 has four doors, which adds to the practicality of the Audi. I find this personally to be useless because in a matter of months, there will be a BMW E90 M3 Sedan.
In term of performance, the BMW exceeds that of the Audi. First, the BMW has RWD with the same amount of power and yet accelerates naught-to-sixty quite faster than the Audi, almost half a second. Obviously, the BMW can put power to pavement better than the Audi, despite the Audi’s All Wheel Drive Quattro.
As for the statement that the Audi can attain a higher top-speed, that’s definitely false. We can deduce this by looking at the specs. First, the BMW has a V8, just like the Audi, producing 420 bhp, just like the Audi. The difference is that the BMW has 420 bhp at 8,400 RPM, far more than the Audi. So the BMW has more torque at higher RPMs.
In addition, the Audi does not have adaptive All-Wheel Drive, which means it distributes torque and power among the front wheels and the back wheels, statically, so the BMW always has power pushing the car versus having power spread across the driveline of both rear and front wheels.
The BMW is also a Coupe versus the Sedan Audi. To think that the Audi is lighter than the BMW is simply ridiculous. First, there are two less doors; doors are really, really heavy. Second, the BMW’s V8 is the lightest currently in production, it is actually 33 lbs. lighter than the Inline-6 it replaced. Third, the BMW M3 has a carbon-fiber roof, which not only lowers its center of gravity by reduces its overall weight. Fourth, All-Wheel drive systems are incredibly heavy because they are incredibly complicated, so four drive systems versus two, you do that math. Thus, there is no reason to conclude that the BMW is heavier than the Audi.
There is no doubt that both cars are phenomenal, I recently own an S4 and it was fantastic, but it simply did not handle as well as my E46 M3 Competition Package. RWD cars just handle better, there is no disputing it. But AWD does have a quicker exit from turns and corners.
Sure, the Audi might be easier to live with because it’s a Sedan, but I actually think you might be surprised at how equal they are in terms of daily-drivability. That gap will be eliminated once BMW arrives with a Saloon. No matter what kind of car is your personal favorite, there is no doubt, whatsoever that the BMW pioneered the Sports Sedan, they wrote the book on how it should be done, and Audi just picked up a copy.
The BMW is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I started driving on an 1993 E36 325i, not a ton of power but, man, if you pushed the envelope too far in it, it would kill you and laugh maniacally. BMWs have this reputation of being basically Corollas (in terms of popularity, demographic of the owners, etc, you know what I’m talking about.) But few realize that BMWs are NOT all luxury, they can be incredibly dangerous and fun to drive with an experienced driver. The E92 M3 may be the greatest M3 ever, but I guarantee you that some will buy and not realize what it really is. These cars are meant to be driven HARD, on tracks sometimes and at high, high speeds. When god finished making Ferrari and realized that he went a little overboard, he made BMW, when he finished with that, then he rested, because both cars took his breath away. (I’m not being blasphemous, but these cars really are a pinnacle of engineering and design.) The BMW is a lifestyle, the Audi may be just a little bit of a compromise.
As for Laguna Seca Blue, I have not heard that is an available color option…we’ll have to wait and see, I hoping for you.
The 414 bhp, 295 lb/ft V8 2008 E92 M3 Competition Package would be my choice every single time. Not because I’m partial, but because I think that’s the closest I’ll come to Automotive Perfection.
EDIT:
First, the more power you have to distribute, the more you lose in the process, this is just a law of Physics. Granted, that loss may be small, but hands-down, RWD is the most efficient drive system out there. It sends 100% of available power to the drive wheels. The Audi does have an amazing system though, but BMW's X-Drive is, in reality far more logical, balancing power from 5% to 95% static to X% dynamic. It is expected that the E92 M3 may have X-Drive installed in 2009. This is just speculation.
As for weight, the BMW is 3460 lbs (speculated) and the Audi is 3564 lbs. And, furthermore, nobody has actualy weighed the E92 M3 because nobody owns one yet. Car and Driver (The magazine that gets the specs, ALL the time) did not get to weigh the car, so figures are yet unknown.
