Q: I had the catalytic converter replaced with an aftermarket one on a '98 Audi A4 V6 but the check engine light
will come on for a few days and go off for a few days now. P0432. What could the issue be now? Is the aftermarket converter not good enough for the Audi or was it not good to begin with. Thanks.

A: you might need a new O2 senser. There should be one before and after the converter, if you change one, change them both. It is possible that you have a bad converter, but i don't think that it is that likely.

Q: how many mileage do i change the timing belt of a 1999 audi a4 v6 2.8 quattro?
i have 1999 audi a4 2.8quattro v6 with a 98,000 mileage already, am wondering if how many mileage do i change the timing belt. i bought this car in 2002 as a used and the warranty was already expired and i don't have an idea if it has a timing belt or a timing chain. thanks

A: It has a timing belt. Read your owners manual it will have the correct schedule for the timing belt. Each auto maker has their own schedule as each uses various quality of belt. Some replace at 40K, some 60K some 80K. So no one schedule fits all makes. There are new belts now that are extended life and if you intend to keep your car I'd go with the extended life belt.

Q: How Do I Remove Turbo Pipe Off Audi A4 V6 TDI?
How Do I Remove Turbo Pipe Off Audi A4 V6 TDI? Thanks

A: oil feed, exhaust or intake? The exhaust is bolted on, the inlet is held on by jubilee clips & the oil feed line is a small bore steel pipe with a 10mm or 13mm union on the end.

Q: I have an 1998 Audi A4 V6 Quattro and can not find where the oxygen sensor wire leads back to the connector...
I'm replacing the one on the drivers side after the catalytic converter. Thanks.

A: well i have an answer i have a 2001 vw passat wich btw is the same car. just a bigger motor and a hell of alot faster. its on the bulk wall(fire wall) on the passanger side it runs from the 02 sensor under the car up into the engine compartment and is zipped tied to other wires on the way up. all the connectore for pretty much everything is on the bulk wall on the passanger side. so get a flash light and look close behind the eninge to see of you can follow one of the wires to the cat.

Q: why I can't start my car it is on"P", and I have to switch to "N" to start the car. It's an 1998 Audi A4 V6.

A: Failed Neutral safety switch. Its not adjustable and is built in to the MULTI-FUNCTION TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH

i need to find the codes for a v6 or v8 audi engine and codes for f/w/d gearbox that will fit those engines,i intend to use them in a rear engined set up

Q: How much hp does the Audi A4 2.8 liter v6 put out?
Im considering purchasing an audi A4 Quattro within the next month. I am a honda finatic, and love fast cars. I just dont think the 1.8 liter is a big enough motor to pull a four door with ease. So i am just wondering how much hp the A4 2.8 liter V6 puts out. 1997-1999 yr model?

A: 105 hp...140 with the 4.2l V8. 0-60 times are 14.5 seconds and 10.8, respectively.

Q: 1996 Audi A4 2.8 V6 Quattro will not run after jump start then battery replacement?
the car will run briefly after it sits for a while, got pressure at fuel line and spark . seems like not getting fuel after first squirt. Not sure but there is a chip in the key and the single mother of 5 said she used to have a remote but one of the boys lost it but they don't remember when. Happy holidays God bless!

A: the key has nothing to do with the no start. Also, there's no real electronics near the battery tray so doubtfull anything got bumped during the replacement. Jump start "can" take out an ecu if you get a voltage spike while making connection but again doubtfull. Look over your fuses. I'd double check the fuel pump fuse, even though you say you have pressure (you checked at the rail, I'm guessing). Towing the car to the dealer for diagnostics is going to be expensive. Is there a NAPA or equivilent parts store in your area ? Just about all of them offer free scanning service these days. If your close by to one, ask if they could make the trip to your car and scan it for you. (I know my local Advance Auto Parts will do this at closing time as long as it's not long distances) If you stored codes, they'll guide you on what to do next. If the scanner cannot communicate with the ecu, you DID take it out during the jump start. 8-( A couple of good web resources are... for help diagnosing any stored codes and asking for help www.audiworld.com Look for your model under the forums tab. for used parts (ecu's etc) www.audifans.com Post a Wanted ad in the marketplace. good luck.

Q: 3.2 V6 Audi TT or BMW 335Xi?
the BMW has at least 50 more horsepower, weighs more, looks slightly less interesting but is 100% covered for service and the Audi V6 engine is not FSI like the 2.0 liter TT is and its torque is felt at much higher revs but wont disappear on the highway like the BMW. Help?

A: Go with the BMW because of the 100% service and it is a better vehicle overall...

Q: Does the V6 engine on a '93 audi have a cover over the serpentine belt and pulleys?
These are not the covers over the timing belt and pilleys, but at the very front of the engine.

A: No it does not only the cam belt has covers.

Q: Should I buy a turbo or v6 audi?
Which of these is more reliable and will last longer? Which is better on gas in town, with a little bit of aggressive driving? How are the automatic transmissions? How expensive are parts such as the timing belt? How many miles is considered high mileage? Should I consider a subaru instead? I am particularly looking at 1996-2001 Audi A4s, but any other models might work. Something under $7000.

A: Between the 2, neither model will last longer than the other. If you keep up on all of the maintenance, they can last a long time. The turbo is better on gas, as long as you aren't being overly aggressive driving, but the V6 gives you a little more HP. The transmissions are usually okay, but there have been some troubles with them in general, for the years that your looking at. The timing belt replacement is not a cheap one. I don't have a current price for you. It varies depending on where you live, too. You may want to consider a newer Subaru. The Audi A4 is a nice car that can be had for a good price, however, you'll be spending a lot more in maintenance and upkeep on one of these older ones than you would a newer car or even a newer Audi. The newer models are built much better. Of course the turbo also requires the premium gas as well. If money is an issue, I'd recommend looking at something else.

Q: earth shattering noise from rear tire audi a4 2001 v6 quatro?
When I am on the expressway and my wheel is turned to the left on a curve or switching lanes to the left, this HORRIBLE mantis/insect buzzing sound happens, any ideas? How much to repair?

A: sounds like a wheel bearing going bad. get the car to your mechanic very soon before you cause major damage.

Q: I found a recommendation for using Mobil One 5w-50 engine oil for my 1998 Audi A4, V6.?
Is this a good oil to use? Mobil Brand must be expensive, is there anything cheaper I could use instead of buying Mobil oil for my car? Appreciate your help!

A: the weight you use depends upon the weather outside... higher weights [i.e. 10w40] are better for higher temps and lower weights [i.e. 5w30] are better for lower temps. this keeps the oil from either freezing or becoming too thin/"melted". as for the brand... well... it doesn't matter *too* much as long as your car is more than a year or two old. it's kind of like using premium vs. regular gas... some people swear it makes a difference, but most would say it makes none whatsoever. as in most cases, however, you get what you pay for. if you feel like pitching in more for the expensive stuff, go for it... if not, there's no reason you can't get the cheap stuff.

Q: How do I find out if my engine is a SOHC or a DOHC? Specifically on a 1998 Audi A4 Quattro, V6.?

A: While technically, its a DOHC since it has 2 cams, its really a SOHC setup. There is only 1 cam per head, and that single cam operates both sets of valves. If it were a quad cam, then on each side there would be a separate cam for intake and one for exhaust valves. Each side of the engine would be considered DOHC then. In every true DOHC configuration, its one cam for intake, one for exhaust, which is not the case on your motor.

Q: how much miles per gallons does a audi a4 v6 gets?

A: im not too sure. but probably about 18-25 mpg.
