Q: Service Cost Audi TT?
Anyone have an estimate on what the 60,000 mile service would cost for an Audi TT, 225hp Quattro? Assuming there's nothing wrong with the car, just the service and all associated tweaks.
A: a 60k usually consists of the following...spark plug replacement, oil change, air and pollen filter replacement, fuel system treatment and de-carb, and full inspection. average for labor is about 4 hours, at a labor rate that has run110-155 per hour at the shops I've worked at. parts usually run around another 200, but many places will have a special for major maint, so best thing to do is call the dealer. they usually have routine repairs and maint. prices prepared and don't even have to find cost. they do it all day every day. hope that helps
Q: What is the mileage that Audi post in their hand book for a 2001 TT 225 Quattro timing belt replacement?
A: we recommend timing belt, water pump, thermostat and tensioner/rollers at 80,000 on all our motors. I've seen the results of a broken belt, and it's never pretty. the reason you do all the other repairs at the same time is because it doesn't increase the labor cost, as you have to expose these parts to do the belt anyways, and they are all parts that fail. most shops will have a timing belt package. it may be expensive, but a very good investment if you're keeping the car
Q: I have an audi TT 180 hp , roadster 2001, Can i upgrade my turbo and install the quattro one giving me 225 hp?
I need to know if i can do so , would it be harmful to my engine or do i need to upgrade anything else in the car or in the fuel system, because my mechanic said it wont harm, and only i shoud replace the small turbo with the big one that belongs to the Quattro(225 hp) , but i need to make sure before i go for it ! please help
A: There is more than just slapping on a turbo. The engine itself has to be beefed up to handle the greater pressure generated by more boost off the turbo.
You also have the issue of wheel slippage. With the Quattro you have the engine power being pushed out by four wheels. With the two wheel drive you will be dumping the power out just with the two front wheels. You are far more likely to spin the wheels and lose not only traction but steering control. This is even more likely if there is a bit of rain or snow on the road.
I would try less radical things to boost power.
Do you use the recommended octane fuel? My TT ran fine of regular gas but I lost some power doing it. If you have been doing that, go back to the premium to get the power.
Have you investigated Hyperchips or reprogramming the engine computer? That would probably be cheaper than a turbo and if it messes something up, you can reverse it and go back to the original programming easily.
Consider new tires. If you keep the same size (125) and go with a lower aspect (go down to 40 from a 50), the tire will be a bit shorter. That gives you more torque. You will be able to accelerate faster at the expense of top end speed. Since the car has a governor on it anyway limiting top end speed I do not see where that would be a problem.
Lastly, if you got that stupid air wing on the back, get rid of it. The car had almost perfect aerodynamics when it first came out but they added the air wing to push the back down due to handling problems over in Germany. In the USA you never get up that fast so really do not need it. You will reduce air resistance, get better gas mileage and better performance.
Q: Audi Quattro 3.2 L or Porsche Carrera ?
I am looking to buy a new sports car and have shortlisted Audi TT 3.2(Coupe) and Porsche Carrera (Coupe). I need to select one and I simply cannot make up y mind.
My requirement priorities are
- Drivability - Nimble, responsive and power(Pick-Up). Fun to drive.
- Safety (No compromises here. I have a 5 year old who will sit in the car)
. Looks. Both car look similar but I need some opinions.
Don't take in to account that Audi sticker price is lower than Carrera,
A: Audi Quattro, no question about it.
Q: cheap yet effective performance upgrade for 2000 Audi TT?
I bought a 2000 Audi TT, already has Milltek SS exhaust and APR chip. This is the 4 cylinder turbo 1.8T quattro, i am already running on high performance tires and do not want to strip the car down to shed weight.
I was thinking cold air intake? I was also thinking fiberglass lip wind splitter to reduce understeer
any suggestions are welcome
A: -power and performance does not cheap.
-a new intake system will give you no noticeable improvement in performance (it may add a few hp at the crank, but virtually nothing at the wheels)...not sure where answerer C7S is getting his info but there is no way shape or form a cold air intake will add that kind of HP....either he has never modified a car or he is believing advertisements that are dead wrong.
so your performance options are limited to quite pricy installations
-performance header
-race cams, performance injectors
-stronger head, or performance studs, built out bottom end (forged pistons, rods) and higher boost turbo or installation of a nitrous kit
there simply is no such thing as cheap performance enhancement, or cheap power increases....
cheap installations either fail to perform or result in engine failure.
cheers
Q: Audi TT's i love them?
What are the differences of the Audi TT
there is s tronic quattro (4 wheel drive)
s tronic with quattro
etc etc
A: I am assuming you are talking about the new TT, not a used one.
Here are some points to consider:
The 2.0T engine is only available with S tronic. S tronic is what audi renamed their DSG. It is essentially two manual transmissions paired together. It has electronic clutches and drives like an automatic. You can shift gears via paddle shifters on the steering wheel or "tipping" the gearshift. It shifts much like a tiptronic, but is much, much better. The S tronic is similar to the gearboxes found in Indy race cars. Audi's S tronic actually is able to shift faster than an manual... it shifts in milliseconds. It actually outshifts the Ferrari Enzo.
The 3.2 is available in manual and s tronic.
The 2.0T is only available in FronTrak (Front Wheel Drive). While the 3.2 is only available in Quattro (All Wheel Drive).
The 2.0T puts out 200 HP and has good low end torque.
The 3.2 puts out 250 HP.
The 3.2 will do 0-62 mph a little faster than the 2.0T. (5.5 seconds vs. 6.1 seconds)
The 2.0T gets a better gas mileage than the 3.2. (23 city/31 highway vs. 18 city/ 24 highway) Both run premium gasoline (91 octane or higher). MPG estimates are for the TT Coupe, the TT Roadster will be slightly less efficient.
I know that is a lot to take in. As an Audi Technician and Audi owner, I would recommend the 3.2 liter V6. Quattro is amazing and I would never buy an Audi without Quattro. It is also a little sportier. In the case of the transmission choice. That depends if you like to drive six-speed or not. Test drive them both. I have driven all of them.
I hope this helps.
Q: audi owners?
how much would an r8 bodykit cost for a 2001 audi tt quattro?
A: www.audicarcovers.com
Q: What engine would you prefer in the Audi TT a 2.0T or 3.2 V6?
I`ve read reviews, and the 2.0T is said to be better, for obvious reasons due to the weight of the V6 and the Quattro 4WD. I know there isnt much difference in performance between the two engines, and yet the price difference is quite hefty, but the thing about the 3.2 was when i drove one, for me it had more torque.
The 2.0T is a fine engine, and suits the car, but i think i`d prefer the V6.
What do you think please?
A: From my point of view (Having worked technically on Audi TT's since their launch within a franchised dealership) I would go for the V6. It's the engine that the TT always deserved and makes it into a different beast altogether. Your correct that the improved torque of the V6 makes the car more responsive and balanced. Couple this with improved reliability over the 225turbo unit ( Turbo's prone to failure and noisy cam chains etc ) and the V6 would be my choice every day of the week.
Q: Where can I purchase a bolt-on turbo for my car?
2000 Audi TT Quattro.
A: For Audi's a good manufacturer is Neuspeed. But really it depends on what you want to get out of adding a larger turbo. There are typically various different stages of turbo upgrades. There is a company called APR, and they offer a lot of cool stuff for Audi's and VWs, I would recommend checking them out. I think their website is www.goapr.com
Q: Audi or Nissan. help.?
Dad's getting me my first car.
I've looked at every car under the sun. (literally)
researched all of 'em.
the specs the reviews you name it.
I've come down to the:
1996 Nissan 300zx convertible
or.
a car that hhumorously my ddoctorrecommended.
2002 Audi TT roadster quattro
I know there's a couple thousand difference in price.
My friends getting an Acura RSX. I wanna beat him on the track.
I live in the around the Great Lakes. so yes. cold weather is a factor.
I want a car that is fun to drive, great performance, and isn't seen everywhere i look.
Oh and they're only both convertibles because my girlfriend loves the top down and I go to South Carolina twice every year. So the Twin turbo'd nissan and the non-roadster audi are still in the question.
suggestions.
comments.
thanks for the help.
A: hey man,
unfortunately both cars not good against acura.
but but
never buy the NISSAN 300ZX, other nissan cars are good but specially this 300ZX hardly won any race here at calder..
so go for AUDI TT but then its not that good looking as 300zx
with the 300zx you can buy put the lambo like body kit which will make it look like LAMBO :)
WIDE BODY KIT.
TT not many modification but 300zx yea.
also too much trouble with the 300zx targa top.

A: Well dude Audi is considered better. That car is sweet, plus its made in germany. =D
Q: What is quattro and S tronic?
ie Audi TT 3.2 Quattro with S tronic
A: Quattro stands for 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel drive helps you control your car better and you get much better handling..
S tronic is an automatic car that feels like and has power like a stickshift car, you get better accleration without any hesitation , i would still perfer having a stickshift car over S tronic
