Q: How to import an Audi A2 to California?
I would love to be able to import an Audi A2 diesel into California. It is such an efficient vehicle, I am surprised that we don't see some enterprising individuals importing them. A: I agree with you, the A2 is great, but....forget it. Without exaggerating, the requirements to import a car like this are onerous, which is why the gray market has been dead in the U.S. since the 1980s. Basically unless you are a foreign diplomat or you are a scientist bringing the car over for research purposes-- you will have to provide at least two of them to the federal government for crash testing. Assuming it passes, then you need to get the 1.2 TDI motor to pass U.S. emissions standards and get it EPA certified for the U.S. Then you will need to replace the glass in all the windows with DOT approved glass, replace the headlights and turnsignals and add 5-mph bumpers--- and because there is no model of A2 sold in the U.S. or anything like it, none of those parts exist. You don't see people importing cars like this here because the federal government makes the laws deliberately draconian to help protect the American auto industry. It forces car makers to make seperate models for the U.S. market rather than just importing whatever they want, easily and it also kills gray market imports. There are companies that handle this sort of thing, if you really want to look into it further, you need to find a "registered importer" if by some freak chance someone else has already gone through the nightmare of red tape to get this car certified for U.S. roads, then some of the obstacles will have been handled for you already. A: If I'm correct the A2 is the aluminium body with a ribbed roof. I can't think of anyone who does this conversion. Personally speaking I would avoid doing this as some aftermarket sunroofs are prone to leak and would reduce the resale value of your car.

the smoke comes from the engine its self not the exhast pipe

A: you should check the link between the engine and the exhaust pipe because sometimes due to excessive carbon build-up the joint ruptures or starts leaking and it needs some welding or a new joint to fix that problem. or maybe the exhaust pipe has some kind of hole in it somewhere close to the engine if there is not any problem there, check the gasket (if you experience any kind of over-heating) best way to figure out the problem is to go to a professional because they can actually figure out the actual problem rather than making assumptions like me. hope this helps : )

A: do you mean check engine light ive never heard of a engine management system light but if it is a CEL then take it to autozone they will do free scans for you and tell you whats wrong with ur car then you can tell us what it is and we should be able to help you with whats wrong

Looking for a 99 Audi A2 2.8 Quattro Sedan that runs like new and has never had any issues. Good mileage 50,000 or at least around 93,250. Engine 6 cylinder gasoline, transmission manual, doors four door, sunroof/moonroof. This car has got my eyes attention and I will like to buy and drive at least 338.21 miles if its all worth driving for and by e-mailing me a soon as possible with good facts about this kind of car. A: Try eBay. Listing changes hourly, so check often. You can make as detailed of a search as you choose. Just curious. You want to drive at least 338.21 miles? Seems odd.

A: The Audi A2 was a premium supermini produced from 1999 to 2005. The last cars left the Neckarsulm plant in July 2005 The A2 was built using considerable aluminium alloy content, providing significant weight advantage over similar sized cars. Unfortunately, the cost of working with aluminium, particularly with small production runs, meant that the A2 was more expensive than its competitors. Thus the slow sales and lack of marketing from Audi. Despite earlier rumours towards the end of the A2s production life about a second generation Audi A2, it is thought that Audi instead plans to launch a more conventional Audi A1 model around 2009 to compete with the MINI. There is no official word from Audi.

Hello guys.I'm about buying a used Audi A2 (2005 model 1.4 tdi 5dr SE) with mileage of 47k.Any thoughts? This car is out of production and I'm worried about availability of spare parts and finding a market if and when I need to dispose of it.Overall,is it a good car to buy?

A: Mechanical parts will not be a problem - most are shared with Polo, Ibiza and Fabia (they still use the 1.4TDi engine). Body parts and trim parts might become problematic after the car has been out of production for over 10 years, but not before then. However, I expect the A2 to become a bit of a cult car, so there will probably be owner's groups to help find parts. Insurance may be expensive, because not every body shop can repair the aluminium shell.

Q: Is it possible to reset the 'Service' indication on an Audi A2?


A: This is all I could gather...read the posts in the links below for more information You should be able to get a manual from your Audi dealer, but this is what the manual says on page 84: How to reset the service indicator. BUTTON 1 is the same button that sets the clock / date beside rev counter. BUTTON 2 is the same button that resets the trip recorder beside speedometer. PROCEDURE 1. Switch off ignition. 2. Press button 2 and hold while switching on the ignition. The display should now read SERVICE! 3. Press and hold button 1 until the word SERVICE! is cleared from the display. Notes Do not clear the service indicator in between services - otherwise the display will be incorrect. The information in the service indicator remains intact if the battery is disconnected.

A: If you ever get the chance, get an Audi with multitronic transmission. It is automatic without a torque converter. My A6 does 40 miles to the gallon with this fantastic transmission.
