Q: How much would it cost to maintain a 2004 Audi A8L Sedan.?
They are in my price range, I am planning on selling my car now and getting one from the year it came out. How are maintance cost, etc.

A: Maintenance in the sense of repairs, will not be that often if you do the scheduled maintenance when it is needed but costly when they do arise . there are some electrical gremlins which are mostly just annoying like premature light burn outs for head lights and dash lights. As far as cost to own and operate premium fuel 100 oil changes every 5K miles. Your looking at 35K for the car if you finance it payments will range from 660-730 depending on credit. lets say you drive average mileage about 300 miles a week you'll average 20 mpg or so. $100 oil change will come every 4 months. so you'll spend about $125+ per month in insurance depending on you age location etc. $210 in gas per month oil changes are $25 per month your payment will be about $660 if you have good credit so your looking at about $1020 before any repairs or maintenance like tires, breaks, light bulbs(which are around $100), the one thing that is nice about an 04 A8 is they came with Free maintenance for 4 years 50K so they were most likely maintained well so you should not get a car that needs allot of money to fix the last owners neglect.

Q: Can someone PLEASE tell where I can go and download an owners manual for a 2004 Audi A8L for free?
I only need the owners manual!

A: You can obtain one through your local Audi dealer.

Q: What is the payload capacity (in lbs) of a 2004 Audi 1.8T A4 or 3.0 A4?
I was thinking about getting this as my next car, but I have a business that requires me to transport about 700 lbs worth of stuff once a week. Could this car handle it? It has enough cargo capacity in volume, but I want to make sure it can handle the weight. Thanks for any help, Nate

A: I am not purely sure on figures, but I have had 4 very fat men in my audi a4 and I am guessing thats nigh on 700 lbs (including me and luggage.) I would expect it to be fine, but I would distribute the weight as evenly as possible about the car, if you put 700lbs of say...gold in the boot, your likely to find the car pulling slightly - Sideways!

Q: how do you replace a brake light on a 2004 audi, do you have to remove stuff from the trunk?

A: You may have to pull the carpet trunk lining away from the back of the taillight housing to get to it. There may be some wing nut fasteners that hold the taillight housing in place. Unscrew these and gently pull the whole taillight housing out until you can get to the plugs for the bulbs. They should twist about 1/2 turn and pull out. Do this gently so you don't break them. Replace the burnt bulb and put it back together the same way it came apart.

Q: Is an audi 2004 A4 (second hand) for $20,000~ an excellent price?
With everything included in that price, $20,000, tax, admisson, etc. Yes or no , thx!

A: Seems a little pricey

Q: catalyc conve. melted, coil fixed and the car still w/ bad idle dont know what to do 2004 audi s4 please help m?
catalyc.converter melted. 2004 audi s4b6

A: What do you mean the cat melted? How does that even happen? You have to be pouring gas down your exhaust or something. You need a OBDII scanner to figure out what is wrong. Bad idle is most likely a vacuum leak, although it could be many other things. Without more information its impossible to help.

Q: I am in the process of buying a user 2004 Audi from a local used car lot. Should I buy the extended warranty?

A: on a 4 yr old Audi I d recommend the warranty. However, you can shop that as well. There are several extended warranties you can buy online, so shop for the best coverage, lowest deductible and best price out there.

Q: what are your top ten mod suggestions for a 2004 audi 1.8t quattro?
howdy.. i was just wondering what some good mods are for a audi 1.8t to increase the power. and handling. thanks, Mike

A: Power 1. Turbo back exhaust 2. Intake/performance air filter 3. Just a chip or 4. AWE Ko4 Turbo upgrade 5. If you go with the K04 upgrade, go with a larger intercooler, maybe even a front mount. Handling 1. Best way to improve handling is remove weight, so lightweight components or a good quality carbon fibre hood(hood would be good on the front heavy audi). 2. H&R sport springs(assuming your stock shocks are in good shape, if not get some bilstein shocks or the H&R spring and shock combo) 3. A bigger rear anti-roll bar(not recommended if you don't like throttle lift oversteer) 4. Low profile sticky tires on lightweight wheels. 5. Crossdrilled rotors, possibly bigger brakes depending on how much power you add.

Q: What do you guys think of the audi 2004 a4 1.8t sedan? and what class is the audi a4 compared too?

A: I've had 2 A4's (1998 and my current 2003). They're great cars. Mine have both been very reliable, very fun to drive (especially in the snow when I can drive circles around any BMW with the quattro system). The fit & finish is an industry leader as is the warranty - maintenance free for the first 4 years (this means you don't pay for oil changes, light bulbs, wiper blades etc. They'll even top up your wiper fluid if you want to go to the trouble of taking it to the dealership to have them do it). With the extended warranty you're covered for the usual warranty items for an additional 2 years - if you buy a used one from a dealership it's included automatically (at least in Canada it is) if you get the car elsewhere you'd have to purchase the ext. warranty before the original one expires. My 2003 has warranty good to half way into 2009. As for the 1.8T vs. the larger normally aspirated engine - the larger engine has a bit more power but also sucks more fuel. I find the 1.8T (which is what I have) has plenty of power as it is but for about $600-$700 you can get the engine chip flashed which will give you a pile more power (another 50 bhp approx.) - giving it more than the larger engine will produce. The flashing affects the turbo power so flashing a normally aspirated (non-turbo/supercharged) engine won't do anything. Although I haven't yet done it on my current car the engine chip in my last one was changed and that car went like stink. I got pulled over by a cop once for speeding - he was behind me in an unmarked car and not knowing he was there I stepped on it to pass a couple trucks - when he caught up and pulled me over the first thing out of his mouth was; "Boy, this thing can really move!" then he gave me a muther of a ticket. lol. class comparisons - Mercedes C-class or BMW 3-series I'd go with the Audi A4 1.8T with quattro (hard to find one without frankly).

Q: I have a 2004 1.8t v4 audi and i have noticed that when i turn left there is a grinding noise. ?
i recently had my tcm replaced so i don't know what it could be.

A: iT COULD BE THE BEARINGS, BUT TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC ANYWAYS. Make sure the axles are fine.

Q: 2004 Audi A3 Mp3 Interface?
I'm trying to connect a Creative Zen Mp3 player up to my 2004 Audi A3 Chorus stereo. All the aftermarket interface products say that they connect through the cd changer port on the back of the radio bu I've taken mine out to have a look and it only has one free port which according to the wiring diagram is for telephone connections. The other two ports on the back both have wired blocks plugged in. Does the interface replace one of these blocks? Any ideas anyone!!??? Confused!!! Paul

A: Your inputs are currently being used by the CD player if equipped. If you don't have a CD player, you can use that port. Otherwise there's an alternative - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oDEWuNVIo6/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01 It's not wireless so there's no interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. Basically it adds an AUX input to ANY radio. No searching for a clean channel. It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch. This is the answer. Totally versatile. Here's one in action - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHBI0LBGhR0
