Q: How come 2001 audi a4 1.8t gets more miles than a 1999?
What did audi do to their engines to have a bigger turbo and and less miles than there older years with a smaller turbo. If i got a older year audi would i be able to update the things that make the newer audi's get more miles. Sorry that mite be confusing but i didnt know how else to put it. Thanks for the help.

A: They made added a bigger turbo and changed some of the inside of the engine so get better gas mileage. The Turbo does not really effect gas mileage.

Q: What are good looking chrome rims to put on a 2001 audi a4 (silver).?
I've been looking for a few months and cant find a rim that would look just great on it. Either 17" or 18", its a small sedan dont tell me to get 22s or something unrealistic.

Q: i want to buy an original cd player for my Audi 2001.Which is the best option Audi concert or Symphony?
i have a limited budget ,so i wanted to buy second hand.so i would be grateful which one would fit in and better value for money and sound. thanks in advance

A: Symphony has great quality, and it is a limited problem system. I've seen a lot of the concert come in with problems in wire and pealing issues. Audi systems are prone to pealing, but the Symphony seems to hold up a lot better.

Q: anyone know how to replace the plastic on the outside of the door on a 2001 audi a4?
The piece of plastic that runs on the bottom of the outside of the drivers side door is falling off and is quite broken. Anyone know where to buy a new one and how much it'll cost+ how do I attach it?

Q: how do you change alternator on 2001 audi A4?
i need to change the alternator on my audi a4 but one of the bolts is long and the fan is in the way. any one got tips?

A: on the a4 it is very easy to remove the front bumper and place the radiator suppot into 'service' position. sounds like alot of work but it's quick and easy. first take off the engine cover under the cara nd then remove the lower side grill covers. you'll find and want to remove one bolt on each side (6mm allen head bolts) then remove torx screw in the frt wheel lining in front of the front tire, again on on each side. then just unclip the sides of the bumper from the fender and pull foward. diconnect headlight washer hose and wires for horn and fog lights. the radiator support has 7 torx 45 head bolts holding it from the front and 2 30 torx bolts on the side and 4 30torx bolts on the top, then just slide foward about 4-6 inches. good luck.

Just Replaced batts with new ones and now the remote does not work

A: You replaced car battery or the remote battery? If remote batt, make sure its well fitted-=side faces upwards.Try this: Roll all the windows up with the switch inside. Now Insert the key into the drivers door lock cylinder, close door and turn key to unlock position and hold-to roll all windows down .And then turn it in the opposite direction and hold to roll all windows up. After that take out the key (the LED safe light should start blinking). Then try your remote key lock/unlock-it should work. That simple!

I have a 2001 audi a4 with 80,000+ miles. Manual says replace at 105,000 miles but I've heard that audi timing belts on older models break much sooner. Am I ok changing it at around 95,000 miles?

A: You should have replaced it (in your mind) before you bought it! Next time buy a V/8 with a TIMING CHAIN!

Q: 2001 Audi timing belt warranty repair reimbursement?
I have an Audi A4 1.8t quattro with automatic. I hear the warranty was extended to cover the timing belt replacement due to it failing earlier than expected. And if you already replaced it, they would reimburse you for your expenses due to a class action lawsuit. Is this true, and has anyone submitted a claim? What was the result?

A: If your vehicle fell within the guidelines of this you should receive a letter from Audi. If not, get your VIN and call your nearest dealer and ask them if there are any outstanding recalls on your vehicle. This is actually the JZ recall that you speak of. There are too many details to go into here depending on the different variables but this is your starting point. They will reimburse for premature failing if the repairs were done at a repair facility and you have receipts.

Q: 2001 Audi having a hard time starting?
My Audi is having a hard time starting- It hasn't completely died yet, but it always sputters when I start it and then it feels like it's about to die. After a couple minutes of running, it seems to be back to normal though. Any thoughts on what this could be? Battery?

A: its not the battery if the car is already started do you have a check engine light if so take it to autozone and they will check it out and tell you what is wrong

Q: I have a Audi A4 2001-2002 model. On the driver side door there are two buttons near the bottom of the door?
what are these two buttons for? Thanks guys had a feeling it was to do with the alarm but now im sure! The second button it shows a car that looks like is going up a steep hill so i dont think thats for the trunk?

A: One is to open the trunk, the other (the one with a wave inside a shape of a car) is to deactivate the motion sensor inside the car when the alarm is on. I guess the purpose of this is to prevent the alarm from going off if you are leaving a pet or somebody inside the car.

Q: Can I Install Amp and Sub on a Factory 2001 Audi A4?
I wanted to add a sub and amp, without having to buy a new stero system. Is this possible? And if so, how would I be able to control the sub's "volume?" Thanks for help.

A: You can tap into the rear speakers and attach a line output converter which will change the speaker signal to RCA outputs. Alot of sub amps have a remote volume controll that can be discreetly mounted.

Q: How to replace a brake light bulb (on the passenger side) on an Audi A4 Year 2001?


A: Front lights are replaced by losing two slack nuts on the bottom of the front light and undoing the ones on the front top of the headlight. Remove the front light casing and then replace light bulb. Rear lights are bolted on the side and have a nut which is covered in the boot of the car on the inside of the light. Undo this and the light comes away from the side of the car for the lights bulbs to be replaced. This advice is for the newer shape A4 2001 - may be relevant to the old. Some Audi's are know for their minor electrical issues. I have found that the housings have a single filament - but you need dual filament bulbs for them in order to get a good contact - just ensure you have a good contact between the bulb and the housing as I have noticed on occasions its not the bulb its the connection that is not right.
